Influence of Aluminum on Fatigue Strength of Solution-Strengthened Nodular Cast Iron

چکیده

The fatigue strength of high silicon-alloyed nodular cast iron is influenced by casting defects and graphite precipitates. literature as well the findings this work show that these microstructural constituents can be tailored controlling silicon microsegregation. In addition, segregations also affect ferritic matrix microstructure locally. present work, in ductile are specifically manipulated small additions aluminum. It was demonstrated how aluminum content affects a wide range across variety length scales. Specimens from alloys with were fabricated tested rotating bending. Results increased compared to reference alloy no Microstructure analysis fractography performed concluding changes could attributed content, which allows properties deliberately. However, according results study, negative effect on castability morphology limits maximum approximately 0.2 wt.%.
